The front and back inside covers each hold two discs, which are inside glossy cardboard jackets with a track list on the back covers.
The track by track text which includes info on the "Sessions" tracks is usually two pages for each song and is both interesting and informative. Also included are many rare photos from the sessions including Linda McCartney's photographsplus repros of handwritten lyrics, recording data sheets, and tape boxes--everything adding to the feel of that time period. The presentation is up to high standards for such an important album as this. The music. Besides the mix of the original album, the session tracks too have good sound.
If you're familiar with the last reissue of this album, the sound isn't to far from that version to my ears--everything seems to be in the right place in the mix. The 23 outtakes sound every bit as good as the album. The Blue-Ray disc is well worth having--the quality--in Dolby Atmos 5. Disc 1 is the original album which is familiar to most all of us so no real comment is needed. Discs 2 and 3 have the outtakes, and this is where the fun begins. The tracks are in chronological order which is a good thing--no guessing about the recording sequence.
There's some studio chat from the group and they sound like they're having a good time in the studio--joking around a bit.
Several of the outtakes are close to the finished songs in feel as we know them. But In My Life - Take 3 - Rough Mix - The Beatles - Soul Sessions (CD) also some goodies that make these sessions worth hearing, In My Life - Take 3 - Rough Mix - The Beatles - Soul Sessions (CD). Also give a listen to "The Long One" which includes eight shorter songs heard on the album, which gives some perspective on the finished album.
But there's other good things included and everyone will have their own favorites--to each his own. I have to say for me that this album has always been near the top of Beatles albums. It's the one I find myself reaching for unless I need a dose of early Beatles. The outtakes plus a really nice book with informative essays and rare photos makes this another good addition alongside the previous anniversary sets--even at ninety bucks or so--which seems a bit high.
But when you slip the book out of its slipcase and see the quality, and when you hear the all the music, the price tag slips back into your head.
It's similar to his other books on the "Sgt. Pepper's" and the "White Album" releases. Top critical review. Reviewed in the United States on October 3, Everyone associated with the Beatles have enough money. I purchased the 50th of Sgt Pepper and the White Album. The best Beatles book, in my opinion, was the dense coffee table book released with Anthology.
So much in that book and a used copy can be purchased for very little money. The quality of the recordings are good enough to be the last. Sort by. Top reviews Most recent Top reviews. Filter by. All reviewers Verified purchase only All reviewers.

First of all, after listening to the Stereo remix, there are some tracks that sound almost exactly like the remasters and the singles from 's Number 1's. Here Comes the Sun seems to be the exception.
It IS nice to get the extras, however, even if not everything is there. Some tracks from this session were on Anthology, and it would have been nice to get a remaster of those tracks. The vocal only version of Because comes to mind. Instead, we get the instrumental version only. Some of the extras were already released on Anthology, but remastered and sound better. We finally get a crisp version of Come and Get It, and also Goodbye, another demo. We also get crisp versions of Her Majesty without the one channel effect and the last note cropped sorry There are other interesting outtakes although the extended Something with the long keyboard and drum outro at the end is missing too.
Although the studio chatter is interesting on the demos, it doesn't make for repeated listening, and it would have been nice if they isolated it, but it would have taken the chatter out of context, so I guess I understand why it is there. Overall, another great job, but still more left, for them to do another one in 10 years and grab our cash again!
If I In My Life - Take 3 - Rough Mix - The Beatles - Soul Sessions (CD), I didn't even have a stereo set up back then! I was not disappointed. The 5. There were no major things that you had to settle with. Little bits that have been buried in the mix for all these years are there, but not as in your face as you would think. Synthesizer parts, keyboard parts, little guitar bits are all enhanced but NOT over done just for the sake of the 5.
The music from what comprised side two of the album really impressed me. So many things I had In My Life - Take 3 - Rough Mix - The Beatles - Soul Sessions (CD) really paid attention to in the past were a revelation to me. I can't imagine listening to this incredible work any other way again, but the beauty of this set is that there is a NEW stereo mix that is my next listen.
I personally think this set with amazing book is worthy of a 10 star review, but I only give it a 9. I'm not complaining, but only wonder why it was omitted since this is the anniversary of the release. I know it's going to be pricey for some people, even me, but if you love this album and these songs, it is worth every penny. If you don't care about 5. These are definitely bonus tracks worth listening to more than a few times! Just received this Deluxe Issue in the mail this morning.
I immediately opened the Blu Ray audio disc. Set up the settings to DTS 5. I sat back close to the rear speakers of my audio system I have been listening to this album for close to 50 years in various formats. First vinyl, than cassette, CD. The original vinyl recordings were awesome. So today, I sat close to my rear speakers and I heard sound that I had never heard before in 50 years. Acoustic guitars, keyboards, backing vocals, synthesizers, that had been buried in the previous recordings, came to life.
I rarely write a review, but I felt I had to. Can't wait to hear the other three discs. The set is contained in a thick cardboard sleeve and a page detailed book with practically anything anyone would want to know about this period with the Fab Four.
There plenty of photos black and white as well as color — some by Linda McCartneymusic sheets, personal notes, scraps of paper with lyrics and lots of narrative about the songs and the period. David Hepworth goes into detail about the aftermath and fantastic reception of the album world-wide.
The book brings the reader down to reality and who the Beatles really were at this young stage — even on their last album. They were kids — incredibly talented kids! The first is a mix of the original album and its stunning. Discs two In My Life - Take 3 - Rough Mix - The Beatles - Soul Sessions (CD) three cover Sessions, Outtakes, Demos in various forms; some instrumentals only. All the songs are discussed in detail explaining how and why they came about and there are some real fun surprises!
The fourth CD Blu-Ray is the ultimate in joyous listening. Perfectly mixed in 5. There are instruments I never heard before brought to the front. Every speaker brings out the music that was previously lost in the older mixes. Put your flat-screen on and you can not only see the song list but some mellow sky backdrop with occasional birds - all very mellow. The book is a coffee table style book and the narratives are great to read while listening to the songs.
There is not much more to be said about this release. All of it Sound and Vision. In the most technical, glossy and pleasing way. Going back for another listen. I love these re-issues because Giles Martin keeps the integrity of each song while making them sound sound so much better. Here Comes The Suns vocals have been beautifully centered. Songs like Because really come alive here. I Want You Johns scream is more apparent than ever before. Come Together you can hear some background banter that was phased out of the original mix or barely noticeable.
Unlike Pepper and the White album there is no mono version to compare this to. I loved Pepper and White restored in proper stereo mirroring the mono albums with background music, effects, and vocals finally delectable on the stereo versions. With the exception of Abbey and Let It Be how could you be a purist listening to the original stereo versions of all the other albums when they were clearly recorded for mono.
They never recorded it again and, instead, gave it to Tommy Quicklyanother artist managed by Epstein.
Production staff: . They also recorded several takes of " Hold Me Tight ". Although inthe convention of destroying session tapes after the final mixes were made had mostly ceased, the session's takes of "Hold Me Tight" were destroyed, as the song was left unused until seven months later when they re-recorded it for their next album. Production staff: . Production staff: . The number of takes recorded is unknown, as the documentation and session tapes were later destroyed or lost.
Production staff: . Studio 2 . Production staff: . Studio 3 control room . Studio 1 . Studio 3 . Some of the songs were released on later Beatles or solo records. Let It Be was put together from the Get Back sessions, documented above.
