I wish it had been longer. View 1 comment. Nov 07, Angie rated it liked it Shelves: read-inread-in Kiss of Life is a short story that tells a little more about the Baron and another lady of Bryas. I enjoyed the story, although I wish it was a little more tied to the Kiss trilogy.
This is NOT a standalone story, so if you haven't read the first two books, you will definitely be lost. However, for fans of the series, this is a great story.
May 10, Megan rated it it was amazing Shelves: read-inchristian-fictioncivil-warfavorite-serieshistoricalnovellasvampiressupernatural. Even though this was really short it was worth reading. It's not completely necessary to the trilogy, but does provide a little bit more insight into Erik's life. Happy to read this and looking forward to reading Kiss of Revenge, the third book in the Kiss trilogy.
Short but sweet story about the Baron and finding his own girl to love during the American Civil War. Jun 13, Machaia rated it liked it. As with most short stories, I wanted more. After reading this, I thought he would have a bigger part to play in Kiss of Revenge.
I would love to hear why the author decided to write this one. His safety harness prevented a fall, and Thompson, who had been ascending below him, quickly reached him and performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Thompson and another worker administered CPR on the ground, and Champion was moderately revived by the time paramedics arrived, eventually making a full recovery.
He died in at 64 years old. Thompson is still alive today. Rocco Morabito was driving on West 26th Street in July on another assignment when he saw Champion dangling from the pole. He called an ambulance and grabbed his camera. I looked up and I saw this man hanging down. Oh my God. I took a picture right quick.
Thompson was running toward the pole. Dexter and a female reporter are sent back to Romania to get the story. Christina is waiting for them at the inn. She explains that she has the rescued Alex, but he has been beaten and made a drug addict. She needs their help to restore him. They realize they have been locked in and a perfectly restored Alex greets them. Christina assures them that their kiss is the gift of a long life just like theirs. Who will live to return to England?
Aug 29, Isobel Blackthorn rated it it was amazing. When Alan Dexter, a freelance investigative journalist from London, is sent on assignment to Bucharest and on to Dracula country to report on the case of a series of murders, he is filled with scepticism.
The cadavers, Kiss Of Life, all men, were found completely drained of blood and with puncture marks on their necks, but he is not going to buy into vampires. Kiss Of Life teams up with fellow journalist, the voluptuous and alluring Christina Radaluc who is not so sceptical.
He, of course, is sucked right in. Good use of horror tropes, a few twists and an intriguing plot make for an entertaining read that ends with a punch. The novel has an interesting construction, too, which I found especially appealing. Jan 03, Berk Rourke rated it it was amazing. A tale of vampires and the "love of one's life" brings together Christina and Dexter. They come from widely divergent, or so it seems, backgrounds and areas.
She is Romanian, he is English. She is Radaluc, yes it is an anagram for Dracula. He is an investigative reporter sent to Romania to investigate the disappearance of children and the rumors of vampires.
He falls in love with this beautiful creature who confesses to him in their first encounter, both personally and sexually, that she is desc A tale of vampires and the "love of one's life" brings together Christina and Dexter. He falls in love with this beautiful creature who confesses to him in their first encounter, both personally and sexually, that she is descended from Vlad the Impaler.
And then the tale proceeds on to Dexter having dreams of Christina, her calling to him to come back to her, to spend his life with her. So he takes his dear friend Karen back to Romania. Karen is a photographer who has had a role in bringing him back about which Dexter knows nothing. She has also had a liaison with Christina's brother, Alex, who deceived Karen by using another name. Will Dexter and Karen survive? Well I cannot tell you that or what need would there be for you to read the book.
The tale is told amidst descriptions of the countryside that give you shivers in and of themselves. The wintry setting, the bad weather descriptions, the overcast and gray conditions, all contribute to the angst of the moments of Dexter and Karen ,meeting with Alex and Christina again.
But is it their last meeting? Or will the story continue in London? Again I cannot tell you the rest of the story. Harry Porter is a master story teller, a spinner of wonderful tales of murder and mayhem and the other worldly.
This book is another example of his ability to spin a yarn. It is very well written. It takes the time to tell you, with clues that are not easily fathomed, the nature and extent of the story. But the likelihood is that you won't see the clues or understand them until the tale is complete. Five stars is not a reward. It is simply a recognition of the Kiss Of Life ability. Moreover it is a recognition of the writer's skill in the use of the words that tell the tale.
And it is a well earned result of this wonderful macabre tale. I enjoyed the book a great deal. I think it is easily suitable for anyone of an age over mid teens. Freelance reporter, Alan Dexter, accepts an assignment in Bucharest, Transylvania to investigate the mysterious deaths of five people whose bodies were drained of blood. His contact in Bucharest is the sexy, journalist Christina Radaluc. Dexter, as he likes to call himself, scoffs at the idea of vampires, but soon, he might have to change his beliefs.
This is a pretty standard plot for a vampire story. No hidden surprises. The only slight twi Freelance reporter, Alan Dexter, accepts an assignment in Bucharest, Transylvania to investigate the mysterious deaths of five people whose bodies were drained Kiss Of Life blood.
The only slight twist is how Dexter and Karen meet their fate. The description of the surroundings and places was interesting and in-depth. Kiss Of Life felt like I was right there in the freezing countryside. The characters were a different story. There was something about his writing that really put me off. For all the accolades at the back of the book, I thought I was missing something.
He uses a lot nice vocabulary, but the sentence structures are too wordy and full of redundancy. Myself, I feel its average, so I give it 3 feathers. Dec 07, G. Bailey rated it really liked it.
