Venus and Mars is a very creative album. It took me awhile to get to this point. When it was initially released I thought it to be an OK album. Not great but OK. An album that I didn't spend copious amounts of time listening.

Post 'Band on The Run" it was, in fact, a let down. Today I have spent several hours not at once listening, appreciating and enjoying the remastered V and M. My Carnival bonus song is also quite brilliant. So basically and album I would have given a 3 star rating is now stepped up to a 5 star rating. Is Album) the remastering, additional bonus tracks, different approach to listening, or other factors?

Well probably all that. Time has treated this album well. Ilistned to this again after all these years and its still one of the best overall album Paul McCartney has done. I know the other review says the sound is muffled but that is the style of this album but only in certain parts and if you listen to the whole album it blends together perfectly.

I also have a nice system and it sounds awesome. Band on the run is wicked but Venus and Mars was his masterpiece. One person found this helpful. It was not as good as the speed of Sound but it did manage to hold its ground and therefore I gave it a 3 on the scale.

For some reason the disc still lacks some basics that would enable it to move any higher. While most of McCartney's Material is Pop Music this disc fails to have that extra degree of mastery that McCartney is fully capable of Producing and has prior to this. This review is based on the main content or first record not the bonus material. The sound on this recording is inconsistent being recorded in a few different studios.

The depth varies going from not enough to good on some tracks. The upper end detail varies also but for the most part is weak. The tone goes from a little too bright at times to a little too dark or murky on some tracks. LP percussion in general seems too far back in the presentation leading to the weakness of the cymbals and drums having little impact.

The recordings for the most part have an unrealistic quality to them. The vinyl quality itself is good with not too much in the way of surface noise. The original album is one of Paul and Wings best. The second CD with outtakes, alt takes and additional material is a terrific bonus. I'm happy to finally get Sally G on a CD. Great stuff! Amazing LP. Fast delivery. An excellent offering from Macca Sitting in the stand of the sports arena Waiting for the show to begin Red lights, green lights Strawberry wine A good friend of mine Follows the stars — Venus and Mars are alright tonight.

  5. The vocals are confident and on target, the tunes are melodic (Paul's specialty), and the lyrics cover a range of odd and interesting topics. My favorites are the "Venus and Mars" theme and its reprise, "Rock Show". The album includes all the original extras, including 2 posters and stickers. This album is well worth owning, I highly recommend it!
